We are looking for a compassionate, enthusiastic and flexible person to help us shape the future of Cambridgeshire Libraries. We maintain a high quality public library service, working in partnership with a range of other organizations and community groups.
The successful candidate will have a flair for working with people and be able to create a friendly and welcoming environment for a diverse range of customers. You will be excellent at multi-tasking and be quick and efficient, with an ability to thrive within a busy and vibrant library service.
We need people who are passionate about what public libraries can offer, and able to promote our services. Although there is plenty of routine work, there is also scope to be creative. Training will be given on specific library systems, but an ability to work with IT is assumed. Although library experience is an advantage, we would also like to hear from candidates who have demonstrated exceptional customer service and/or interpersonal skills in other contexts.
We want to recognise and celebrate the diversity of our local communities and be responsive to their needs. We also want to ensure that we are a fair and equitable employer, striving to achieve a diverse and culturally competent workforce. We therefore encourage applications from all areas of our community.
Please note that library work is physically demanding; see the Job Hazards information for more details. We also strongly recommend that all applicants read the “Guidance on applying for a Job” document, which can be found by clicking on “General Information for Applicants” under “Further Information for this job”. The Working Pattern for these vacancies can be found under “Extra Information”. Please note that we are currently running an interim service and flexibility around working hours will be required.
This is an 18.5 hour per week post; salary is paid pro-rata.
Applications must be made online here. Interviews will be held at Central Library, Cambridge on Tuesday 8th September 2020.
