We are looking for an energetic and versatile person to help us shape the future of Cambridgeshire Libraries. We maintain a high quality public library service, working in partnership with a range of other organisations and community groups.

The successful candidate will have a flair for working with people and be able to create a friendly and welcoming environment for a diverse range of customers. You will be excellent at multi-tasking, quick and efficient and enjoy working under pressure.

Experience of managing and building teams and an ability to prioritise and delegate is essential.

A detailed knowledge and understanding of library practices is desirable, but not essential.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about what public libraries can offer, promoting the library service and developing links within the wider community at every opportunity.

The Area Library Manager (ALM) is one of two ALMs responsible for the delivery of services in Cambridge City. This is an area that would allow you to develop and stretch your skills and demands a highly motivated and talented individual. The area includes the Central Library and the five City libraries at Arbury Court, Barnwell Road, Cherry Hinton, Milton Road and Rock Road, with a new library in Darwin Green scheduled to open in the near future.Candidates must be able to travel within the group as required and work flexibly, with a requirement for some weekend and evening working. The successful candidate would be responsible for the day-to-day running of these libraries as well as the management of staff and volunteers across this area.
