Layering

The first couple of months of the new year have seen us turning down the home thermostat one minute and then hunting out a can of de-icer the next! And, in the fashion stakes, we’ve been facing the same problem.

It seems a constant juggling game with shades, coats, boots and vest tops! But – don’t fret – ‘layering’ will save the day.

In this blog, we give some top tips on layering and repurposing outfits to give a whole new look, whatever the weather.

Re-purpose your Party Dress

Who’d have thought your velvet slip dress could make the perfect partner with your slouchy hoodie? Revive the party essential with a jersey layer underneath and keep it low key with trainers and a denim jacket or puffer in terms of outerwear.

The Jeans and Dress Combo

If you’re not a fan of tights, but can’t face bare legs with the temperature drop (we don’t blame you!) then add an unconventional layer; a pair of jeans. Expose your denim by tucking in your dress around the front pocket area and wrap up in a longline coat for a definitive cool factor.

Add a Pop of Colour with a Puffer

Puffer jackets are always a trusted staple and we can’t get enough of them! Add a playful edge to structured workwear with a hoodie and puffer pairing, choosing a bright shade for a pop of colour.

Slogan Style

Slogan tees will never fall out of favour but with fluctuating temperatures, wearing your tee as a standalone piece can become difficult. Layer up with a long-sleeved top underneath and add impact to your ensemble with a vibrant skirt.

Shirts with Roll Necks

Ah the workwear dilemma; to wear a shirt, or a roll neck… combining both not only makes for an unexpectedly perfect pairing, but also a brand-new way of styling your structured essentials.

Choose a sleek black high neck jumper, buttoning a striped shirt over the top. Keep the rest of the outfit tonal with shades of blue, adding flashes of patterns in your accessories.
